It was a busy weekend of sports. Check out the VarsityKansas.com home page for all kinds of coverage, including of the Southeast Invitational cross country meet, the Maize volleyball tournament, golf notes, and football rankings.

I got an e-mail about the Circle volleyball team, which went undefeated at the Rossville tournament and is now 18-1. Cedar Vale-Dexter beat Argonia to win the Spartan volleyball invite.

At the Marion tourney, Collegiate won it, but was especially interesting was assistant coach Kayla Stout coached against her mom, the Canton-Galva coach, Val Stout, in the tournament. Not an easy time for the two who are such close friends. At the Tescott tournament, Goessel volleyball went 2-3, but according to coach Crystal Guhr, played their best volleyball. She e-mailed some stats: Makaila Schmidt with 21 aces for the day.  Kendra Flaming and Paige Booton each tallied 22 digs.  Jennifer VanHorn led in blocks with 15, followed closely by Alex Hiebert with 15.  Jennifer VanHorn also led in kills with 32 for the dya.  Aimee Flaming led in assists with 58.Goessel’s overall record is 11-5 and competes on Tuesday at Solomon with Little River.
