Wichita Collegiate won its third straight boys tennis title and its 19th overall when it scored 58 points in the 3-2-1A tournament that ended this afternoon in Wamego. Collegiate had all six players in the semifinals, and the doubles team of Brandon Somerhalder and Miles Dunne beat Conway Springs’ Kayl Barkley and Stratton Lange for their second title; they won in 2008. It’s the fifth straight year that Collegiate has had a doubles champ.
Independent, which finished second, got a singles title from freshman Jake Norman, who beat Collegiate’s Daniel Ritchie 6-0, 6-2. It’s the fourth straight season that Independent has had a Norman win a singles title (Ryan Norman won three).
KC Maranatha finished third.
