I spent the weekend in Lawrence at the KU Relays and witnessed a few good races. It was actually my first visit on the campus, and it’s really nice compared to a lot of place I’ve been to.
Anyways I want to give some shout outs a few standout athletes from our area that I noticed. We’ve Miles Ukaoma (400 meter dash winner). Andrew Etheridge (110 meter hurdles winner ran a 14.35, which is tops in kansas right now ). Molly Milbourn ran a great race in the 3200 and smashed her personal record by at least 30 seconds by running a 10:52.52. She also placed third in the 1600 by running a 5:01.85 mile. And I can’t forget the Southeast girls 4×100 relay team. It came very close to breaking the meet record with its 48.64 time to win the finals.
Sorry if I left anyone out. I know I did.
Anyways, back to baseball.
Derby will be playing at Maize on Tuesday. I will be there covering the game and using twitter to send updates to people that can’t make the game. Follow me @cjelliott20. Also, we will have a really good one as Northwest prepares to take on Kapaun in a Friday night double header. This will be Northwest’s first real test since facing Goddard at the beginning of the season. It should be a really good contest. Unfortunately I will be out of town and unable to cover it, which isn’t cool.
One last thing, make sure to check out the story Joanna and I did on the private-public issue. It ran Saturday and is still up on the site. Let us know what you think.
