I just got the coolest e-mail from Marion girls coach Randy Savage.
Check out what he wrote me: “… what a great reception kids get in small towns with this kind of event. Our girls received a 4 police car escort into town and marched down main street, arm in arm, carrying their trophy.....with a big crowd.....at 10:00 last night! Great memories!”
Now that’s what this is all about — did you know that Marion was the 3A runner-up?
Here’s the thing, not everyone wins and blame shouldn’t be passed. We are talking teenage kids here, and fact is, sometimes they have bad days, sometimes they have good days.
And you know what else? If we all won, wouldn’t life be boring? The joys of winning are amazing, but the lessons learned from losing should, when the pain passes, be looked at as a part of the process of games, of life.
So to all those who win, congrats. And to those who participated, may you, in some way, get that walk that the Marion players did.
