Soccer talk (Sept. 30)

By: J. Long

Southeast took control of the City League title race Tuesday with a 2-0 win over East. Southeast is undefeated in the league with games against South and West remaining.

Though East was without one if its biggest offensive threats, Joseph Yun, Southeast did a great job of imposing its size on the Aces. East thrives in space and Southeast gave it none. Senior Manny Miranda did an outstanding job of making East’s Oliver Bradwell a non-factor.

In other City League news, Northwest shocked Kapaun Mount Carmel 4-1.

It’s a big week for area soccer on Tuesday with Trinity and Rose Hill meeting, as well as Hutchinson and Maize.
