Some urban lakes are stocked in the middle of the month with channel catfish. These waters include Lake Afton, Cruiser Lake, Emory Park, South Lake and Watson Park. Butler SFL: Catfish fair in upper end and shallow water on cut bait, especially shad. Largemouth bass good on crankbaits and spinners in very shallow water. Crappie fair on small minnows under a bobber near shoreline vegetation. Bluegill fair in shallow water using worms.
Chase SFL: Catfish fair to good off piers and north shore with shad sides or guts. Largemouth/spotted bass fair to good on medium to large plastic baits near shore or rocky areas. Bluegill fair to good near rocks on the piers, woody or weedy cover using small live baits. Crappie fair using jigs and minnows near brushpiles in shallow water.
Cheney: White bass fair in the river. Wipers fair along the dam and windblown points in the Refuge area. Walleye fair using jig-n-crawler off the dam and on the flats. Crappie good near riprap and brushpiles using jigs and minnows under a bobber lakewide. Catfish good on live bait and cutbaits throughout the lake.
Council Grove: Saugeye fair to good in shallow creeks on jigs or medium-sized crankbaits. White bass fair to good on jigs and inline spinners in creeks. Crappie fair to good in water less than 10 feet deep using jigs or minnows.
Cowley SFL: Crappie fair in the shallows on jigs or minnows. Bluegill fair to good with worms under a bobber on the north side of the lake. Catfish fair on cut baits. Largemouth bass fair to good using spinner and crankbaits near rocky areas and vegetation, especially on south end of lake.
El Dorado: Wipers/white bass fair using small spinners or jigs in creeks or shallow wind-blown shorelines. Crappie fair to good in creeks and smaller coves on a variety of baits, especially minnows.
Kingman SFL: Crappie good near rocky areas and brush on minnows and jigs. Catfish fair off jetties with cut or live baits. Largemouth bass excellent using plastic worms and shallow crankbaits off the jetties and in weeds. Northern pike fair, most being caught while bass fishing.
Marion: Catfish fair lakewide on live and cut baits. Crappie good in the river and in shallow-water coves using jigs and/or minnows. Walleye fair near dam and off rocky points. White bass good to excellent lakewide and in the river.
McPherson SFL: Catfish fair around feeders using cutbait or shrimp. Crappie fair with minnows or small jigs near rocky areas or brush. Largemouth bass good.
Fall River: Catfish fair with worms below riffles in river. Crappie good near structure in river and near stumps with jig or minnow. White bass good with twistertail jigs near riffles in river.
Glen Elder: Crappie good to excellent in shallow water, especially in coves, near causeway and dam with minnows or jigs under bobber. White bass and wipers fair to good using roadrunners, small jigs and Kastmasters around the causeway, the south bluffs or off the dam. Walleye fair to good near dam, Waconda Springs, Harry's Island and the south bluffs using jig-n-crawlers, roadrunners or trolling crankbaits. Smallmouth/largemouth bass good in Osage and Marina Coves, around the bluffs and along the dam casting jointed shad raps, X-raps, minnows or roadrunners. Channel catfish good in shallow water near the causeway and along the Cawker City dike with a variety of prepared baits.
Kanopolis: Channel catfish fair to good on windblown shores using worms or cutbaits. Crappie good using minnows or jigs near rocks on dam. Walleye/saugeye good to excellent on the flats with jigs-n-crawlers. White bass fair to good in river and creeks and along the dam and windblown points with jigs and spinners. Wipers fair using worms or minnows on bottom or bucktail and twistertail jigs and shad imitators off windblown points and any windy area.
Kirwin: Wipers/white bass fair around the fish attractors and along the dam using jigs, roadrunners and crankbaits. Crappie good using jigs and jig-n-minnows under a bobber in coves.
Milford: Catfish fair in river and on windblown shores on shad sides. Crappie good near brush and rock along drop offs and near coves in 5-10 feet of water using tube jigs and minnows. Walleye fair along the dam at night on minnow baits and jigs or on deep edges of flats using worms. White bass and wipers fair in river and along rocky areas with jigs and spinnerbaits. Smallmouth bass good with jerkbaits, jigs and crankbaits in shallow water off rocky points/shorelines. Largemouth bass fair using jerkbaits near points with cover.
Norton: Walleye/saugeye fair off the river channel and dropoffs using jig-n-crawlers. Wipers good using jigs or minnows in Leota Cove. Crappie fair off public docks and Marina slips or near fish attractors using jigs or minnows. Largemouth/spotted bass good using spinners and crankbaits in coves and along the dam.
Toronto: Catfish fair below riffles in the river and Walnut Creek drifting worms. Largemouth bass fair in backwaters of Walnut Creek. White bass good with twistertail jigs in riffles in Walnut Creek and Verdigris River. Crappie good with jig or minnow near stumps in Walnut Creek and upper end of Mann's and Toronto Coves.
Tuttle Creek: Catfish fair in river. Crappie good on jigs or minnows in Carnahan, Stockdale and Marina Coves. White bass fair in Fancy Creek or the Black Vermillion River using jigs. Largemouth bass fair in coves in south end of reservoir, especially McIntyre Cove. Saugeye fair along rocky areas in water less than 8 feet deep using jigs and crankbaits.
Webster: Wipers/white bass good using jigs, roadrunners and crankbaits along dam and along the north shore. Crappie good in coves using jigs and minnows and around the breakwaters using jigs. Walleye fair using jigs, jig-n-minnows or crawlers and crankbaits off dam, near old swim beach, near the Bow City parking lot and unimproved launch area.
Wilson: Catfish fair on windy sides of lake, also backs of coves in shallow water with cutbaits or worms. Stripers fair trolling shad imitators or live shad off windblown points and edges of flooded vegetation. Walleye fair along dam with jigs-n-crawlers or in flooded vegetation with white twistertail jigs. White bass fair with white jigs and small spinners in the river and near Bunker Hill Bridge. Black bass good to excellent using white twistertails or chartreuse spinnerbaits near flooded vegetation.
