Mike Miller, Wildlife and Parks information chief, recommends these procedures to get a possible record fish certified:
* Take good color photos of the fish from many angles.
* Weigh the fish as soon as possible on state-certified scales. Those are scales used to weigh anything for sale and can usually be found at grocery stores and meat lockers.
* Get the weight witnessed and get their names and contact information. Find out when the scale was last inspected and its ID number.
* Don't freeze the fish. Put the fish on ice or keep it alive and contact a Wildlife and Parks fisheries biologist so the species can be identified.
Contact information for fisheries biologists are in the fishing regulations booklet.
