The Wingnuts fell behind early Saturday and never recovered, losing to the Sox 6-4 in Amarillo, Texas.
Amarillo used a three-run second inning to build a 4-1 lead against Wingnuts starter Ryan Hinson. Amarillo's Van Pope and Benji Johnson had run-scoring doubles in the inning, and Chris Nash added an RBI-single.
The Sox made it 5-1 with an unearned run in the sixth, than Cyle Hankerd homered in the seventh for a 6-1 lead.
Wichita got a run in the eighth when Brent Clevlen scored on an error, and the Wingnuts scored twice in the ninth on another Sox error and an RBI-double by Clevlen.
The series concludes tonight at 6:05 p.m., when the Wingnuts will try to salvage a split of the four games.
The Wingnuts return home Tuesday for a three-game series against Fort Worth.
