The Wingnuts scored three runs in the ninth to force extra innings, but ultimately lost 4-3 to the RailCats in Gary, Ind., on Tuesday afternoon.
The loss snapped Wichita's four-game winning streak.
The Wingnuts' rally came with two outs in the ninth. Jorge Delgado was hit by a pitch, then Josh Workman reached on an infield single. Edwin Bellorin's single to right drove in Delgado, the Mike Conroy hit a two-run double to the right-field corner to tie the score.
Bard Boyer scored the winning run for the SouthShore RailCats. He led off the bottom of the 12th with a triple off David Miller, and scored on Jeff Beaucham's single.
