Pensacola rocked two Wingnuts relievers for eight runs in the eighth inning Friday on the way to and 11-6 victory in Pensacola, Fla.
The game was scoreless into the sixth inning. The Pelicans' Adolfo Gonzalez broke the shutout with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the sixth. Pensacola added two more runs in the seventh against Wichita starter Gabe Medina to make it 3-0.
The Pelicans used seven hits, a walk, a hit batter and a Wingnuts error to score eight times against relievers Jacob Wiley and J.R. Boling, making it 11-0.
The Wingnuts scored six times in the ninth, highlighted by Jorge Cortes' grand slam.
