Sioux Falls struck for four innings in the eighth inning off the Wingnuts bullpen and beat Wichita 5-2 on Tuesday night in South Falls, S.D.
Wichita built a 2-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings. Catcher Jeff Cristy's singled to drive in Chris Colton in the second inning, then DH Mario Delgado hit his third homer of the season with one out in the third.
The Pheasants answered in the bottom of the third when Tim Hutting homered off Gabe Medina, but that was the only run Medina allowed in seven innings.
Cephas Howard replaced Medina to start the eighth, and found trouble immediately. He walked Hutting, then hit Joe Anthonsen with a pitch. Gus Milner singled to load the bases, then Reggie Abercrombie's single drove in Hutting and tied the score 2-2. Beau Torbert followed with a two-run single. Doug Hurn replaced Howard and struck out the first two batters he faced, but Hunter Jobes singled to drive in Abercrombie and make it 5-2.

Siingles by Steve Pearson with one out in the ninth and Delgado with two outs brought the tying run to the plate, but Aaron Cotter struck out Ryan Patterson to end the game.
The Wingnuts signed pitcher Ben Graham and released Brandon Mathes. Graham just completed his senior season at Emporia State, going 8-3 with a 2.45 ERA.
