Dean Chelios’ power-play goal at 3:59 of the third period broke a tie and sent the Thunder on its way to a 4-2 win Sunday at Evansville, Ind., for the team’s first three-game winning streak of the season.
Evansville scored twice in the first period, but the Thunder drew even in the second period with goals by Michael Neal and Domenic Alberga.
The goal by Chelios came 23 seconds after a slashing call against the IceMen’s Michael Trebish. Kenton Miller made it 4-2 less than a minute after Chelios’ goal.
The Thunder killed three power plays in the final 12 minutes to protect the lead. During its three-game weekend sweep Wichita successfully killed 17 of its opponents’ 18 power plays.
