Marc-Antoine Gelinas made 27 saves and posted his second shutout of the season, leading the Thunder to a 2-0 victory over Quad Cities on Wednesday night in Moline, Ill.
Gelinas withstood four Mallards power plays, including two in the third period.
The Thunder's A.J. Gale scored a first-period goal on a rebound after Matt Robinson stripped the puck and fired from the left circle.
Wichita protected the one-goal advantage until Troy Schwab added an insurance goal with 1:29 left in the third period. His score came on a rebound after Quad City goalie David Brown stopped Schwab's initial shot.
The Thunder had lost three of four games before Wednesday. The road trip continues with games Friday and Saturday at Rapid City, S.D.
Robinson an All-Star — Thunder left wing Matt Robinson has been selected to the CHL All-Star team as a reserve. Robinson has 15 goals and 17 assists. The All-Star game is Jan. 12th in Rapid City, SD. This year's format pits the defending champion Rapid City Rush against a team of CHL All-Stars.
