B-52s grab control early, win in Kim Roentved’s debut

The B-52s scored the first three goals and never trailed Saturday night, beating Chicago 8-5 at Hartman Arena in Kim Roentved’s first game as coach.

Matt Clare, John Markey and Travis Pittman scored first-period goals for Wichita, and the team took a 3-1 into the locker room at halftime.

Chicago scored eight seconds into the third quarter, but the B-52s quickly responded with a goal by Alex Moseley 49 seconds later, and the lead grew to 7-2 by the end of the third quarter.

The B-52s’ offense was varied on Saturday night — the eight goals came from seen players. Pittman finished with two goals, Clare and Moseley each had a goal and an assist, and Abel Sebele had two assists.

Wichita improved to 3-4 with the win, and Chicago fell to 2-4. Wichita is third in the six-team MASL Central Division, four game behind division-leading Missouri (7-0).
