Yahoo! Sports is reporting Ohio State coach Jim Tressel was informed that some of his players had sold memorabilia to the owner of a tattoo parlor more than eight months before the school said it was made aware of improper transactions. The website, citing an unidentified source, reports Tressel received information as early as April 2010 that players were selling items to Edward Rife, who owns Fine Line Ink Tattoos in Columbus.
On Dec. 23, quarterback Terrelle Pryor was among five players suspended by the NCAA for the first five games of the 2011 season. All the players were allowed to play in Ohio State's 31-26 victory against Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl.
* Iowa and Nebraska will meet on the Friday after Thanksgiving in each of the next two seasons. The schools announced they'd face each other in Lincoln on Nov. 25 and in Iowa City on Nov. 23, 2012. Nebraska, new to the Big Ten in 2011-12, had played Colorado on that day in the Big 12 since 1996.
* The NFL and the players' union resumed negotiations Monday with Roger Goodell and DeMaurice Smith on hand while the sides convened before a federal mediator. The current collective bargaining agreement was set to expire last Thursday, but two extensions have now pushed the cutoff to the end of Friday.
Wichita State's Tyler Gann is in second place (142) after two rounds of the Del Walker Invitational in Long Beach, Calif. Gann is five shots off the lead with one round to play. WSU is in fifth place.
Two missed flights have ended guard Sherron Collins' chance of returning to the Charlotte Bobcats. Coach Paul Silas said they planned to bring back the undrafted rookie from Kansas after waiving him, but withdrew the offer last week after Collins missed two flights the team had arranged from his hometown of Chicago.

Derrick Rose scored 24 points in Chicago's 85-77 win over New Orleans, which played without point guard Chris Paul, who suffered a concussion Sunday night.... Dirk Nowitzki overcame foul trouble to score 25 points in 27 minutes, helping visiting Dallas outlast Minnesota 108-105. Michael Beasley had 20 for the T-Wolves.... Carmelo Anthony had 34 points and Amare Stoudemire 31 in the Knicks' 131-109 rout of visiting Utah.... Blake Griffin had 17 points and 15 boards in the Clippers' 92-87 victory at Charlotte.... Portland won its 10th game in 13 starts, 89-85 at Orlando, playing without suspended Dwight Howard.
Former Maize swimmer Jared Roberts won the 1,650-yard freestyle last weekend at the Mid-American Conference championships in Carbondale, Ill. Roberts, a freshman at Missouri State, won in 15 minutes, 35.22 seconds, an NCAA "B" qualifying time and third-fastest in Bears history.
Five-time champion Rick Swenson was injured Monday in a fall in rugged terrain between the Finger Lake and Rainy Pass checkpoints. Swenson reported he believes he broke a collarbone.
