City League bowling notes


* Two-time state medalist senior Brice Logan finished fourth in Class 5-1A and looks to help Carroll defend its title after losing four bowlers from last year.

* East returns a strong core, including its three seniors Scot Payne, Tyler O'Quinn and Courtland Elliott.

* Kapaun graduated two state qualifiers, but senior Chase Dempsey and sophomore Nick Ries will lead the Crusaders.

* North has senior Seth Osborn, state qualifier last year, returning, as well as sophomore Ryen Ingram.

* Northwest will look to returning juniors Kendall Miller and Brandon Blehm to lead a rebuilding squad.

* Captain and senior William Paul leads South , which is looking for its first City League title since 2002.

* Southeast is young, but senior Hunter Bennett and sophomore Alex Harber will lead the Buffaloes.

* Senior Jon Downs and sophomore Dakota Longpine lead West's young team.


* Carroll, the Class 5-1A defending champion, returns four from last year including top bowler junior Morgan Kuckelman, third at 5-1A, and senior Erin Sanagorski.

* East has five returning starters including its lone returning state qualifier, sophomore Kayla Steelsmith.

* Heights returns juniors Juliahna Stockman, who placed ninth at state last year, and Victoria Connelly.

* Kapaun returns senior Alison Huffman and junior Lauren Baker.

* North returns seniors Nesa Hubbard, 2009 Class 6A individual champion, and Ally Johnson, 2008 Class 6A individual champion, from last year's state runner-up.

* Junior Taylor Elkinton is the only returning letterman from last year for Northwest .

* Sophomore Samantha Steffen is South's lone returning state qualifier.

* Southeast's experience should help improve the Buffaloes, who are led by senior Shelby Clemens and junior Desirea Holmes.

* West returns senior Marina Schlorch, a two-time state qualifier, and sophomore Kaitlyn Vanlaufer on a team filled with freshmen and sophomores.
