Kevin Weiberg, the longest-tenured commissioner of the Big 12 Conference, has become an executive-in-residence with Wichita State’s Department of Sport Management.
Weiberg was commissioner of the Big 12 from 1998 to 2007 and most recently was deputy commissioner of the Pac-12 for four years. He retired from that position last year.
At Wichita State, Weiberg will be a guest lecturer in sport management courses and consult with the department on industry trends. He will also be a fellow in the Partnership for the Advancement of Sport Management.
Weiberg was an assistant athletic director at WSU from 1980 to 1987. He was Big Ten assistant commissioner for two stints covering 11 years.
