Wichita State’s Bohm, Lewis earn All-MVC baseball honors

Wichita State third baseman Alec Bohm and pitcher Zach Lewis earned All-Missouri Valley Conference baseball honors on Tuesday.

Bohm, a sophomore from Omaha, hit .389 in 21 MVC games with seven home runs. Lewis, a senior from Palos Heights, Ill., went 3-2 with a 3.19 ERA in seven MVC starts.

WSU first baseman Greyson Jenista, a sophomore from Eudora, is on the second team. He also was selected to the All-Defensive team.

Shortstop Trey Vickers, a junior from Lee’s Summit, Mo., and freshman catcher Noah Croft, from Olathe, earned honorable mention.

Vickers led the conference with a .402 average in 21 MVC games.

Missouri State, which went 18-1 to win the regular-season title, dominated the individual awards.

Third baseman Jake Burger earned Joe Carter Player of the Year honors. Closer Jake Fromson was named Pitcher of the Year and junior starter Doug Still was named Newcomer of the Year.

Bears coach Keith Guttin was named Dan Callahan Coach of the Year.

Bradley third baseman Brendan Dougherty earned Freshman of the Year honors. Dallas Baptist shortstop Camden Duzenack is the Defensive Player of the Year.
