Wichita State’s baseball team will try to put an end to a two-game losing streak when South Alabama visits Eck Stadium tonight and Wednesday night.
After an 8-7, last-of-the-ninth rally to beat Long Beach State on Friday night, Shocker bats were held to three runs over the next two losses. It was the third time this season that WSU lost consecutive games with a combined three or fewer runs.
Left-hander Kris Gardner (3-0, 3.05 ERA) is scheduled to start for WSU tonight against South Alabama right-hander Dillon Buhrkuhl (0-3, 7.85). Gardner won his first three starts and pitched 4 2/3 innings of a Shocker victory over Purdue on March 17 in his last appearance.
The Shockers begin Missouri Valley Conference games on Friday when Southern Illinois comes to Eck Stadium for three games.
