Change, but no change
The decision to play two games on Friday instead of taking a chance with storms expected in Peoria today gives the Shockers an extra day before the MVC Tournament begins on Tuesday.
That doesn't change any of the pitching plans for the tournament however.
"Both of our guys (starters Brian Flynn and Josh Smith) threw equally well today," Wichita State coach Gene Stephenson said. "The guy with least amount of pitches was Flynn and he's relieved for us this season so he's used to throwing on shorter rest."
Long time coming
The WSU bullpen wasn't used at all on Friday, a rarity for a doubleheader.
"Two complete games in the same day is unheard of in this program for a long day," Stephenson said.
Stephenson said it could have been done in 1982, when the Shockers won 73 games and had 46 complete games.
"It might have been done in 1982, but it's a long time since then."
