Wichita State: Hatch recognizes the importance of tonight and Tuesday’s game against Tulsa as a launching pad into MVC play. The Shockers redeemed a miserable first half with a feisty second-half effort on Monday in a win over Alabama A&M. “We’ve got a long ways to go,” he said. “I hope we’re ready. The purpose of these games is to build your identity and to get better. We’ve done it on a few games, but games like (Alabama A&M) we took a step back. We need to play a full game.”æ.æ.æ. Kyles’ scoring average has dropped from 15.3 points after scoring eight points in the past two games. Kyles is 3 of 12 from the field in those games and Marshall is concerned he is falling back on old habits. “It looks like the David of old,” Marshall said. “He appears to be coasting a little bit. It’s not something that is producing great results.”

LSU: The Tigers needed overtime to defeat McNeese State 78-66 on Thursday in Baton Rouge. Turner led LSU with a season-high 23 points. He made 6 of 15 shots and 8 of 10 free throws. Dotson has made 11 of 21 three-pointers. Stringer (39.7 percent) and Turner (36.4) account for 43 of LSU’s 64 three-pointers. The Tigers average 15.7 turnovers and committed 18 in a loss to Nicholls State and 16 in a loss to Coastal Carolina. Opponents are shooting 37.8 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from three-point range. LSU has played eight home games and lost to Memphis 70-61 in Tupelo, Miss. It defeated South Alabama 80-65 in its lone true road game.
