Wichita State: The Shockers lead the series 5-0, last defeating the Aztecs during the 1976-77 season. . . . Murry is 17 of 18 from the free-throw line (94.4 percent). G Joe Ragland is 11 of 11. . . . . Kyles is 21 of 36 from three-point range (58.3 percent) and needs to make two more to equal his total from his first two seasons. . . . Ragland started three games before defensive problems set in. “He’s got to work on defense and knowing what a foul is and what a foul isn’t,” WSU coach Gregg Marshall said. “Just figuring out the game at this level. He’s getting better. I thought he was pretty good (against Chicago State).” Ragland is handling the ball to Marshall’s satisfaction. He has 19 assists and six turnovers and his 3.2 assist-to-turnover ratio is the best on the team.
San Diego State: The Aztecs return five starters from a team that won the Mountain West Conference Tournament and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Tennessee. . . . Gay is 12 of 29 from three-point range (41.4 percent). . . . San Diego State’s weak spot is at the line. It is 67 of 104 (64.4 percent). White is 0 for 3 despite starting all seven games. . . . The Aztecs are 7-0 for the second time under coach Steve Fisher, the former Michigan coach. They have won 17 straight non-conference home games. . . . Wednesday’s sellout crowd of 12,414 was the earliest sellout during a season in the arena’s history.
