The Wichita State men's bowling team won its third consecutive national championship, beating Calumet College in the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships on Saturday in El Paso, Texas.
The Shockers became the second team to win three consecutive titles, matching the feat accomplished by the WSU squads from 1993-95.
WSU had a dominant week, setting a record qualifying score and going undefeated in match play, winning 16 of 18 games.
The Shockers opened the best-of-three championship match with three consecutive strikes, grabbing a lead they never relinquished. WSU won 232-154 and 226-177. Wichitan Josh McBride had strikes in three of his four frames.
The Wichita State women were eliminated in the semifinals by McKendree College.
The finals are scheduled to be televised on ESPN2 on May 5.
