The opportunities Wichita State missed in its first two baseball games against Florida Gulf Coast didn't go to waste Sunday. The Shockers had plenty of mistakes to choose from and they took advantage of five hit batters, four unearned runs, an error and five walks by the Eagles.
WSU also pounded out 13 hits in its 15-3 win at Eck Stadium.
Eight of the nine starters reached base, 10 Shockers had hits and the three redshirt seniors led the way.
Cody Lassley and Clint McKeever were on base three times and Bret Bascue went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

WSU (7-1) had three multi-run innings with four in the first, three in the fourth and six in the sixth.
"Bascue was good again today, there was a lot of guys up and down the lineup that did a good job and I think everyone is beginning to see where their role is," Wichita State coach Gene Stephenson said.
Kevin Hall, hitting leadoff for the fourth time, reached base three times. Preston Springer had three RBIs. Ryan Jones broke out of a 1-for-21 slump with a three-run home run. Travis Bennett hit a home run, his first as a Shocker and WSU's 15th home run of the season.
Hall, who was 2 for 4, started the Shockers' four-run first inning with a single. Lassley, McKeever and Johnny Coy all drove in runs with base hits in the inning.
In the sixth, WSU sent 11 hitters to the plate. Led by Jones' pinch hit home run, Springer had a ground rule double and Chris O'Brien singled home two runs to finish the scoring.
"When we got everybody on our offense clicking we're definitely capable of putting up this kind of offensive performance," McKeever said. "We just have to keep it rolling the best we can. It's a total team effort."
Charlie Lowell (2-0) worked in and out of trouble, but limited most of the damage. Lowell struck out three and gave up just one earned run before being pulled in the sixth.
"Charlie pitched a really good game, he's still not quite to where he needs to be, but he pitched out of the jams he got himself into," Stephenson said.
