Wichita State is 8-18 in 18 appearances in St. Louis with no title games and five berths in the semifinals. (WSU didn't qualify in 1996.) With that history, it's no wonder the only memorable moments are bad ones.
1997 — Last-place Drake _ 0-18 in MVC play _ defeats seventh-seeded WSU 74-63 with Lynnrick Rogers scoring a St. Louis-record 38 points.
2003 — De'Anthony Bowden's steal from behind takes the ball from WSU's Randy Burns in the final seconds with Creighton leading by two in the semifinals. The Bluejays win 70-69 after a dunk by Larry House following the steal.
2004 — Third-seeded WSU makes 6 of 26 shots in the second half after leading 34-27 at halftime and loses 63-56 to second-seeded Northern Iowa in the semifinals.

2005 — Creighton makes 33 of 39 free throws to defeat second-seeded WSU 70-60 in the semifinals.
2006 — WSU's only appearance as the top seed ends in the semifinals with a 60-52 loss to fifth-seeded Bradley.
2009 — Booker Woodfox's jumper in the final second trumps Toure Murry's go-ahead three to give Creighton a 63-62 win in the quarterfinals.
