Baker smashes No. 10 Ottawa

Baker outscored No. 10 Ottawa 24-0 in the second half on the way to a 41-16 rout of the Braves on Saturday at Baldwin City.

Ottawa trailed just 17-16 at halftime after a pair of first-half touchdowns from Shane Gimzo, scoring on a 9-yard run and a 29-yard pass from Bobby Adamson.

John Babb led No. 23 Baker with 190 yards rushing on just 10 carries, including a 94-yard touchdown run for the game's final score.

Southeast product Clarence Anderson had six catches for 74 yards to lead Ottawa.

Jayhawk Conference finishes 1-7 in season openers _ Saturday proved to be doomsday for the Jayhawk Conference, dropping all five games against non-conference opponents. Top-ranked Navarro defeated Butler on Thursday, and No. 6 Hutchinson defeated Kilgore, the lone win for the league's eight schools in season openers.
