Five players to watch at Region VI

Jeremy Jones, Seward County, 6-foot-2 sophomore — One of the nation's top junior-college recruits. Went to the same high school in Chicago as Bulls guard Derrick Rose.

Tyrus McGee, Cowley, 6-2 sophomore — Chose Iowa State over Creighton, Wichita State, Colorado and TCU. The Jayhawk East MVP will play the point at the next level, but plays both backcourt spots for the Tigers.

Joe Mitchell, Hutchinson, 6-1 sophomore — Wichita Southeast product is two-time All-Jayhawk West pick. Signed with Ohio, where former Wichita South and Saint Louis point guard Jamall Walker is an assistant.

Jarwand Rheubottom, Garden City, 6-4 sophomore — Had time to mature at Garden City after redshirting. Averages 13.2 points and 6.9 rebounds. All-Jayhawk West pick had best game of year in win over then-No. 1 Hutchinson with 27 points and 13 rebounds.
