Ottawa rallies for win

Wichita Southeast product Clarence Anderson scored four touchdowns on 13 receptions and a school-record 291 yards receiving to lead No. 5 Ottawa to a dramatic, 40-34 come-from-behind win over No. 13 Hastings (Neb.) in the opening round of the NAIA playoffs on Saturday at Ottawa.

Trailing 34-6 midway through the third quarter, the Braves reeled off 34 unanswered points for the victory, with the game-winner coming on a 64-yard run by Andy Otto in the fourth quarter. Ottawa quarterback Ethan Haller threw for 415 yards and four touchdowns.

It was the first playoff win in school history.

The Braves travel to No. 3 Lindenwood (Mo.) next Saturday for a quarterfinal matchup against former Ottawa coach Patrick Ross, who led the Braves to the 2003 NAIA playoffs.

No. 9 MidAmerica Nazarene 40, No. 12 McPherson 24 _ MidAmerica Nazarene blew open the game by reeling off 17 points in the fourth quarter at Olathe to defeat McPherson in its first playoff appearance.

Trailing the Bulldogs 24-23 headed into the fourth quarter, back-to-back touchdown passes from Tyler Herl to Jared Elmore sealed the win for the Pioneers.

Aaron Lafitte led McPherson with 114 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
