Behind 20 points from Angel Goodrich, the Kansas women’s basketball team got its first victory in the NCAA Tournament since 1999, beating former Big 12 rival Nebraska 57-49 on Sunday night in Little Rock, Ark.
The 11th-seeded Jayhawks, 20-12, advanced to a second-round matchup Tuesday with No. 3 seed Delaware.
Goodrich also had five assists, three steals and shot nine for 18 from the field. KU held Nebraska, 24-9, to one for 19 shooting from three-point range.
KU is playing in its first NCAA Tournament since 2000, when it lost in the first round. The Jayhawks’ last win was in the 1999 first round against Marquette and they last reached the Sweet 16 in 1998.
