KU women move to 8-0 with win

The Kansas women overcame an early eight-point deficit and beat Southern Methodist 73-65 on Saturday in Dallas.

Kansas improved to 8-0, the first time the Jayhawks have started a season with eight wins since 2005-06.

SMU took a 10-2 lead before Kansas got its offense going. KU pulled even at 17-17, and from there the game remained close the rest of the way — the Jayhawks' largest lead was 73-63 with seven seconds left in the game.

Monica Engelman led KU with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Aishah Sutherland scored 12 and Keena Mays added 10.

Delisha Wills scored 22 points for SMU. Christine Elliott, a South graduate, had seven points and blocked four shots.
