Belmont: The Bruins have lost two in a row, at Saint Louis and against Eastern Illinois. Belmont has been a solid program of late under coach Rick Byrd, making the NCAA Tournament from 2006-08. In 2008, the Bruins nearly upset No. 2-seed Duke, losing 71-70. Belmont doesn't have a big win under its belt yet this season.
Kansas: KU, which owns the nation's longest winning streak on its own floor, is going for its 50th straight win at Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks are coming off an impressive 84-69 victory over California last Tuesday and had three days off for the Christmas holiday before returning to work on Saturday night. KU has won every game by double digits since a 57-55 victory over Memphis in the second game of the season.
RPIs as of Monday: BU 147, KU 14.
