Late technical sinks Kansas women

FREEPORT, Bahamas — A technical foul helped Texas Christian defeat No. 18 Kansas 74-69 Saturday in the consolation round at the Junkanoo Jam.

Kansas was called for a technical when it called time out without having one remaining. KU had grabbed a 69-68 lead on Krysten Boogaard's lay-up with 36 seconds remaining.

The technical was called with 13.8 seconds remaining. TCU's Emily Carter hit both free throws, and the Horned Frogs regained possession.

The Jayhawks took a nine point lead at 64-55 with just under seven minutes to play on a free throw by Boogaard.

Boogaard finished with 21 points. Sophomore forward Aishah Sutherland had 16 points and seven rebounds while Danielle McCray had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
