Wingnuts win another wacky one

The Wingnuts fell behind four times Saturday night, but rallied each time and beat Amarillo 17-16 on Saturday in Amarillo, Texas.

The Wingnuts' eight-run eighth inning was difference, highlighted by a grand slam from catcher Edwin Bellorin.

Hitting highlights were plentiful — all nine starters had at least one hit, and all nine scored at least one run. Seven of the nine had an RBI. Juan Delgado was 3 for 4 and scored three runs. Juan Richardson and Mike Conroy also scored three times.

Pitching highlights were less plentiful. Starter Trent Lare lasted four innings and allowed eight runs. Thomas Fitzgerald started the game in left field, then came to pitch in the eighth. He allowed two runs in the eighth, then left after loading the bases with two outs in the ninth. Closer Josh Dew allowed a single and a double before getting the game's final out.

Wichita scored in six innings, Amarillo in seven innings.

The teams have combined for 56 runs the past two nights.
