MANHATTAN — The Kansas State football team has agreed to play a three-game series with Texas-San Antonio.
The arrangement will feature two games at Snyder Family Stadium and one at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The first of the three games will be played in Manhattan on Sept. 27, 2014. The second is Sept. 12, 2015 in San Antonio, with the finale Sept. 15, 2018 at K-State.
"Two of our primary goals in football scheduling are to play as many home games as possible and when we do have to go on the road, to travel to important K-State markets and provide exposure for our program and university," said K-State athletic director John Currie. "San Antonio is a terrific travel destination for our fan base and to play in the Alamodome will be a great experience for our student-athletes and our fans."
UTSA is a start-up football program that will not play any games this season. It will then compete in the Football Championship Subdivision as an independent for two seasons before transitioning to the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2013 and 2014. During that time, opponents can use wins over UTSA toward bowl eligibility.
In 2015, it will be a full member of the FBS. K-State joins Baylor, Arizona and Arizona State as teams that have announced future series with UTSA.
