Big 12

Kirk Seminoff looks at today's other Big 12 games

Furman at Missouri

When: 1 p.m.

Records: Furman 2-0, MU 2-0

The line: No line (FCS opponent)

Radio/TV: Pay per view

Storyline: Week 1, they look like a Big 12 North contender. Last week, all sorts of questions about the Tigers. Furman won't help MU answer many today.

Tulsa at No. 12 Oklahoma

When: 2:30 p.m.

Records: TU 2-0, OU 1-1

The line: OU by 17

Radio/TV: KSGL, 900-AM; FSN, Ch. 34

Storyline: Through two games, OU has allowed six rushing yards. In 65 attempts. That's 0.09 yards a carry. Or 0.28 feet. Or 3.32 inches. Or a third of a football's length.

No. 19 Nebraska at No. 13 Virginia Tech

When: 2:30 p.m.

Records: NU 2-0, VT 1-1

The line: Va. Tech by 5

Radio/TV: KAKE, Ch. 10

Storyline: The Huskers have won six straight for the first time since 2001 (where have you gone, Frank Solich?), but No. 7 would be a good get. The Hokies have won 31 straight home games against nonconference opponents.

Wyoming at Colorado

When: 2:30 p.m.

Records: UW 1-1, CU 0-2

The line: CU by 7

Radio/TV: Fox College Sports (not available on Cox)

Storyline: Google "fire dan hawkins" and you get a Web site by the same name. It says, "This site is being held to prevent someone with negative intentions from obtaining it." Hawkins, the CU coach who forecast 10 wins, has one more loss to play with.

Connecticut at Baylor

When: 4 p.m.

Records: UConn 1-1, BU 1-0

The line: BU by 10

Radio/TV: None

Storyline: Baylor received AP poll votes for the first time in 11 years. The Bears are plus-3 in turnover margin, which if repeated today should give them a win over a Huskies team that lost to North Carolina last week on a holding penalty in the end zone for a game-losing safety.

Rice at No. 16 Oklahoma State

When: 6 p.m.

Records: RU 0-2, OSU 1-1

The line: OSU by 33

Radio/TV: None

Storyline: From Sports Illustrated cover to doubters everywhere. Bill Young's defense wowed everyone after shutting down Georgia, then Houston puts up 45 in Stillwater? Rice won't challenge, so it's a day to iron some things out.

Iowa State at Kent State

When: 6 p.m.

Records: ISU 1-1, Kent St. 1-1

The line: ISU by 3

Radio/TV: None

Storyline: Iowa was the combine and Iowa State was the corn last week. Happy harvest, Cyclones, you looked bad in a 35-3 home loss. Now it's off to a MAC opponent. Don't watch the Colorado-Toledo tape.

Utah State at Texas A&M

When: 6 p.m.

Records: USU 0-1, A&M 1-0

The line: A&M by 19

Radio/TV: None

Storyline: Not sure that Week 2 of the season is the best time for an off week, but that's what both teams had last Saturday. A&M's a huge favorite, and QB Jerrod Johnson should pad his league-leading total offense stats.

Texas Tech at No. 2 Texas

When: 7 p.m.

Records: Tech 2-0, 0-0 Big 12; UT 2-0, 0-0

The line: UT by 18

Radio/TV: KAKE, Ch. 10

Storyline: We imagine Royal-Texas Memorial will be quite lively tonight as the Longhorns try to avenge their only loss of last season. Texas was a late Red Raiders TD away from playing in the Big 12 title game and probably the national championship game. Yeah, there's motivation.
