The South Haven boys overcame a 16-point first-quarter deficit to beat Pretty Prairie 73-70 in their Class 1A-Division I quarterfinal game Thursday in Emporia.
The Cardinals trailed 24-8 after the first quarter, but outscored Pretty Prairie 24-12 in the second quarter.
South Haven (22-2) kept up the pressure in the second half taking the lead in the third quarter. Jarod Young led South Haven with 18 points, while Austin Showman added 16.
The Cardinals, making their state tournament debut, shot 9 of 15 from the three-point arc. Blake Wilkey hit three, while Young and Showman each drained two.
They'll face the No. 8-seeded Victoria Knights in today's first semifinal at Emporia's White Auditorium.
Victoria (13-11) pulled off the stunner, toppling the two-time defending champion Hanover Wildcats 55-53 behind Kameron Dinkel's 20 points and Jordan Bleske double-double (18 points, 11 rebounds.)
South Barber rolled to a 72-52 quarterfinal win over Golden Plains in Division II at Hays' Gross Coliseum.
Luke Yearout and Dylon Molz each scored 18 to lead South Barber. Yearout grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds.
South Barber plays top-seeded Greeley County in the second semifinal tonight.
