Girls basketball box scores, roundup (Jan. 28)

Blue Valley’s girls beat Wichita Northwest 42-25 in a semifinal Friday at the Lawrence Free State tournament.

The score was 15-15 at halftime. Blue Valley’s Bailey Geiman hit a three-point shot to start second half, and Blue Valley never trailed again. The score was 22-19 midway through the third quarter, then Blue Valley scored 16 consecutive points before the Grizzlies finally ended their drought with less than 3 minutes left.

Blue Valley, which played Bishop Carroll in the first round, has held its two opponents to 55 total points.

Alaina Shine led Northwest with eight points and had nine rebounds.

Northwest will play at 12:30 today against the loser of Friday’s Free State-Shawnee Heights game.
