No. 20 Illinois whips Tar Heels

Mike Davis scored 20 points, and No. 20 Illinois had five players finish in double figures in a 79-67 victory over North Carolina on Tuesday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Champaign, Ill.

Demetri McCamey had 17 points for the Illini (7-1) while Mike Tisdale had 14, Jereme Richmond 12 and D.J. Richardson 11.

North Carolina center Tyler Zeller picked up three early fouls and spent more than nine minutes of the first half on the bench while the Illini built a 37-30 halftime lead.

Illinois opened the second half with an 8-2 run and never led by less than nine points the rest of the way.

John Henson led the Tar Heels (4-3) with 16 points while Zeller finished with 10.
