Girls basketball box scores, roundup (Dec. 17)

Ashley Malone led East with 21 points and Relina Johnson added 15 as the Aces pulled away in the second half for a 56-48 City League girls basketball victory over North on Friday night at North.

A jumper from North's Taylor Williams cut East's lead to 46-45 with just over three minutes left in the game, but two baskets from Malone and an offensive putback from Johnson after Williams' basket kept the game out of reach.

Treece Patterson and Maddie Northcutt led North with eight points each.

Carroll 49, Kapaun 41 — Carroll used a strong run in the second half to pull away at home.

The Eagles led 30-20 midway through the third quarter and built the lead to as many as 16. Kapaun made a run late but was unable to cut the deficit within 10 until the final seconds.

Cathy Brugman led Carroll with 18 points. Katie Andersen had 18 for Kapaun.
