WSU women fall to South Dakota

South Dakota blocked 10 shots, forced 18 turnovers and held the Wichita State women's basketball team to 36.2-percent field-goal shooting in beating the Shockers 57-47 in Vermillion, S.D., on Sunday.

Haleigh Lankster was the only Shocker in double digits with 14 points.

The Shockers were 2 of 12 from three-point range and attempted five free throws.

Lankster scored 12 of her 14 in the second half, including five during a 7-0 Shocker run that reduced the deficit from 15 points to eight. Wichita State pulled to within seven points after a Morgan Boyd free throw at the 6:23 mark.

The Shockers return home to Koch Arena for the annual School House Rocks Day on Friday against Savannah State at 12:05 p.m.

No. 18 Iowa 68, Kansas State 62 — Jaime Printy scored 20 points for host Iowa, handing the Wildcats their first loss.

Taelor Karr's three-pointer with 4:52 remaining in the first half launched Kansas State (6-1) on a 16-point scoring drive. The Wildcats scored 10 unanswered with contributions from Brown, Chambers, Karr and Jalana Child and Chambers.

Iowa's Kach Alexander ended the streak by hitting two free throws, and the Hawkeyes managed to stay within 29-25 at intermission. They then reclaimed the lead when Alexander scored in the paint, Printy connected and Morgan Johnson scored about six minutes into the second half.

The Hawkeyes (8-1) held on the rest of the way.
