Sweat, Wildcats win third straight

Ashley Sweat led a trio of Wildcats in double figures with 18 points as Kansas State won its third game in a row, beating Yale 78-59 on Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan.

An 18-0 run by K-State (8-6) that spanned the final four minutes of the first half and the first three of the second half proved to be the difference.

Brittany Chambers scored 16 points and Taelor Karr had 15 for the Wildcats. Karr had a career-best five three-pointers, making 5 of 8.

The Bulldogs (4-7) held a 17-7 advantage early in the first half, but the Wildcats surged to a a 34-28 lead at the break. Behind Sweat, who had 12 first-half points, the Wildcats closed the first half on a 9-0 run and scored 14 of the final 16 points in the first half.

K-State opens Big 12 Conference play next Saturday when it is host to rival Kansas.
