South's Elliott scores 18 in win over WSU

The Wichita State women couldn't protect an early nine-point lead, losing the Southern Methodist 67-60 at the Sunsplash Shootout in Nassau, Bahamas.

Wichita South product Christine Elliott scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead SMU.

The Shockers were ahead 23-14 with 10 minutes left in the first half, but WSU went cold from there, scoring five points the rest of the half to fall behind 35-28.

Wichita State closed within three points several times, the final time at 63-60 with 22 seconds left. SMU hit four free throws for the final margin.

Morgan Boyd scored 26 points to lead WSU. She made 4 of 7 three-pointers.
