The Wichita Wingnuts will face the Gary SouthShore RailCats in the American Association playoffs after Gary grabbed a wild-card spot with a win on Monday.

The best-of-5 series begins Wednesday (7:10 p.m.) and Thursday at Gary. The series comes to Wichita for Saturday’s third game (7:05 p.m.) and if necessary games on Sunday (5:05 p.m.) and Monday (7:05 p.m.).

Gary (57-43) needed a win and a loss by Fargo-Moorhead to qualify. The RailCats defeated Lincoln 3-2 when a two-out base hit scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Winnipeg defeated Fargo-Moorhead 8-3.

The Wingnuts (61-38), who clinched their seventh straight division title in late August, ended the regular season with a 4-1 win over Salina on Monday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Wichita enters the playoff on a six-game win streak. It took two of three games from the Railcats in a mid-July series at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
