Wings’ rally fades late in loss to Blast

The Baltimore Blast beat the Wichita Wings 12-6 on Saturday in Balitmore, the Wings’ seventh loss in their last eight games.

Baltimore held Wichita scoreless in the first half and took a 6-0 lead into halftime.

The Wings finally got on the scoreboard in the final minute of the third quarter — twice. Tiguinho scored an unassisted goal at 14:09 of the period, then assisted on a goal by Andrew Hoxie at 14:48 to cut the Blast’s lead to 6-4.

Wichita tied the score early in the fourth quarter when Victor Quiroz scored with an assist from Tiguinho, but the tie was short-lived. Baltimore responded with three goals in the next five minutes, two of them by Lucas Roque.

With four games left in the season the Wings are two games behind Chicago for the final MISL playoff spot. Wichita plays at Rochester on Monday.
