Chiefs' Weis explains knee injury

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. —Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis says a piece of his left knee "fell off" a couple of days before training camp opened.

Weis and defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel spoke with the media after this morning's practice.

Weis has been running practice with a huge brace on his left leg and walking with a cane when he's not driving around the field in a motorized cart.

He says he plans to have knee surgery after the season.

Weis is in his first year with Kansas City after being fired as head coach at Notre Dame. His knee problem has been a topic of speculation, but he refused to offer more details.
