Dear Supreme Court justices: If I am forced to participate in or promote that which is against my sincerely held religious beliefs, then you have taken away my freedom of religion.
A veteran from the Vietnam War era, I watched the movies about other wars on Memorial Day. I was reminded of the terrible cost of war. That’s why I detested the unjust war in Iraq, and I pray that we never have another one like that.

Pathetic: More than 100 homes in my neighborhood, and only six American flags flown on Memorial Day. People have $200 for smartphones, but no money for a flag that honors the men and women who died so that this opinion isn’t written in German or Japanese.
Perhaps Obama can do something about precipitation inequality.

After volunteering at local soup kitchens serving food to hungry families for several years, my college-educated kids and their peers want to live in a place that is not ground zero in an economic war on the poor. Still wonder why there is a brain drain of young people leaving Kansas?
Editorial cartoonist Richard Crowson would have us believe that Secretary of State Kris Kobach’s real goal is voter intimidation. If you are an eligible voter and vote once per election, you have nothing to fear from Kobach.
You can criticize me as a teacher for having three months off in the summer when you pay the thousands of dollars for continuing education (most summers) and you make sure I don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars out of my own pocket to buy classroom supplies.
It is maddening to make a donation to charities only to receive another request by return mail without a word of thanks. Thank you, KPTS and Kansas Humane Society, for being the exceptions, and for the lovely personal letters of appreciation.
