This session of the Kansas Legislature is like some bizarre circus with mean clowns in charge. We should change the election date for these representatives to June, when memory is fresh of all the embarrassing, harmful things they have done to this state.
We need to send our governor an invoice for the budget shortfall. His idea, his misguided run for a “legacy,” his budget deficit. Pony up, governor.

There is still plenty of time for those Kansas legislators who weren’t aware that they would be asked to govern to resign and be replaced by others willing to do the work.
Come on, Kansas House and Senate. If you can roll over for Uber, you can admit the tax exemption plan was just as much a goof.
Consumers are ultimately the only taxpayers. Raise taxes on business and they pass every penny on to the end user. Taxing business is just a ploy to make us think someone else is paying them.
Even though the tax cuts aren’t creating many jobs, no Kansan should be taxed twice on the same income. Topeka used to do that to small-business owners. We should not reinstitute such unfairness.
The fact that bills can be introduced anonymously in the Kansas Legislature is wrong on every level. If representatives or senators are so cowardly that they will not put their name on a bill, then it should not be considered by the House or Senate. This needs to stop.
The only positive aspect of the Brownback school-funding debacle is that a bright light has been cast on how upside down the educational system has become. Get online and view the NEA hierarchy. It will make you choke. The tree has become massive and the roots are starving.
Republicans and Democrats need to drop the talk about who all OK’d the invasion of Iraq. That is done and over, and everyone is long tired of hearing about that awful mess. Let’s learn from these mistakes and move on.
