Gene Stephenson built WSU baseball from the ground up. To let him go with a “don’t let the doorknob hit you in the back as you leave” is disgraceful. If they have to pay him next year’s salary anyway, why not let him finish his contract and leave with dignity?
Thank you, Gene Stephenson, for leading the WSU Shockers for 36 years. The administration’s plan was totally wrong. They named a KSU stadium after their coach, so build a dome at WSU and call it the “Gene Dome.”

The heartless WSU athletic director and school administrators have shown who the real losers are. We’ve finally got a growing basketball program, so they decide to sacrifice the baseball program. Send the mercenary AD and his gang packing, before it’s too late.
I have been a Shocker baseball fan since 1977 but have not attended a game since 2005, when Stephenson and his crew ran off and then we allowed them to slither back. I am so glad that I will be able to be back at the park next season.
The Gene Stephenson situation was handled very badly. All of this was so unnecessary. Does anyone else wonder if the wrong person was fired?
There is a condition called “founderitis.” This happens when the individual who founds an organization or team thinks he is more important than what he founded. I have seen boards of directors struggle with founders who can’t let go of their “baby.” Eventually, they must be forced out.
I went to the Riverfest on Saturday. Everything was really nice. I just can’t believe anyone would pay $10 for a smoked turkey drumstick.
Support the River Festival. Buy a button so you can have the privilege of paying inflated prices at the food court.
Is city government dumb, greedy or both? Instead of talking about big fines, just limit people to watering lawns every other day, or every third day, as has been done in the past. This should include private wells. Also, the city needs to lead by example.
To the Kansas Legislature: Liar, liar pants on fire; we’ll remember the sales-tax mire.
Ever wonder why we have a welfare state? You shouldn’t when we have the IRS targeting a pro-marriage group for harassment and destruction.
We no longer need the IRS. Businesses and citizens can mail in their taxes on the honor system. Yeah, right.
Sen. Frank Lautenberg has passed away. He was our last surviving veteran of World War II in the Senate. History is passing before our eyes. Rest in peace.
