Joe Paterno and Gene Stephenson wouldn’t resign. Ever. Too many years, unchecked power – it all leads to total loss of perspective. WSU baseball had declined, unable to compete nationally or locally. Stephenson didn’t think they would fire him. Ever.
If the city water department wants to straighten out the embarrassing mess it is in, it can start by charging everyone the same rate per gallon. No more preferential rates for private commercial interests, no more seasonal rate changes. Why complicate things?
The city needs to find a way to harness the water runoff. Just think of all the rainwater that could have been saved for human consumption or lawn use. Since the city is going to spend millions on replacing old water mains, it might be a good time to look into this.
A few inches of rain are no reason not to implement plans to conserve and look for alternate sources of water for Wichita. We prayed for rain. We got rain. We should pray for some local leadership with a little foresight.
America is getting more liberal and God is sorry. It means more frivolous lawsuits from minorities. It means a less-dignified retirement through Social Security and Medicare. It means older people will be denied health care by overworked doctors. It means an unpaid-for safety net for drug addicts, illegals and the uneducated.
Republicans need to listen to Bob Dole. Rep. Mike Pompeo and others think they were elected to give President Obama a bad name. The attack in Benghazi wasn’t Obama’s fault any more than the Sept. 11 attack was President Bush’s fault. They were elected to work together.
Hurrah for the SUV that pulled over to rescue a newly awakened turtle as it crossed Rock Road. Two others were not so lucky. Why they end up smashed is the question I ask everyone. Is it a game to hit them?
