Let’s be proactive, Wichita. We are in a drought. Water rates are increasing. Now homeowners could be subjected to $1,000 fines for overuse. Let’s ban fireworks in Wichita and conserve water. If I have to try to put out a fire from my neighbors’ fireworks, will I be fined for protecting my property?
I miss Bob Martz. He was the only one smart enough to know where a 13th Street bridge over I-235 and the Big Ditch should be built. The last time something was done right was in 1957.

I used to play the game SimCity. I would turn off the tornado option. I wish Mother Nature could do the same thing.
It is disconcerting to turn on your TV at mid-morning and find that the Weather Channel’s tornado chasers are doing a live broadcast a block away from your house.
Democrat and Republican politicians want the same thing: power. Politicians no longer represent the people, but their parties. It’s time to vote on principles and not party lines. Even if that means not voting.

Nice try of President Obama trying to distract everyone away from his scandals and legal troubles by again bringing up closing Gitmo. But he forgets, or just is incapable of understanding, that at least half of the voters have IQs higher than dirt.
The Constitution was not intended to right every wrong, nor for every federal do-gooder to inflict his notion of how he thinks life should be lived on all citizens. This means you, Mr. Obama.
My family is more of a nonpolitical “social welfare organization” than any tea party group. I guess we’re being targeted because we have to pay taxes, too.
The reason the IRS focused on conservative groups is because they falsified their information to gain tax-free status. They are political advocacy groups, not charities. Conservatives care only about money. Nothing for their neighbors. I applaud the IRS for its efforts.
I have to wonder if those who advocate government-run health care have ever considered that care could be denied if they contributed to the wrong political party.
Are pigs flying? They must be. Cal Thomas actually said something good about President Obama (“Obama hit right note during commencement,” May 29 Opinion). The Obama-hating Opinion Line contributors will not be happy.
